Dogecoin Dives 10%—But These Meme Coins Are Down Even Worse

Dogecoin is having a rough day, with the leading meme coin plunging by 10% over the past 24 hours amid a market-wide decline that followed mixed U.S. economic reports released earlier Tuesday.

But while DOGE is the biggest loser among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap—beating heavyweights like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana on that front—other major meme coins are even worse off as of this writing.

Solana-based dog coins Bonk (BONK) and Dogwifhat (WIF) are both down about 11% as of this writing, while recently buzzy AI agent meme coin AI16Z has fallen by nearly 15% today.

Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Solana Plunge as Jobs Data, Rate Cut Expectations Spook Investors

Floki (FLOKI), Brett (BRETT), and Gigachad (GIGA) are similarly down about 11% over the past day, though SPX6900 has fallen nearly 14% and Popcat (POPCAT) has plummeted almost 16% as of this writing.

Only one meme coin in the top 250 cryptocurrencies by market cap is in the green over the past day: Akuma Inu, a dog-themed token on Ethereum layer-2 network Base, which has spiked 55% on the day amid a 264% weekly surge.

Dogecoin to a Dollar? Galaxy Predicts Meme Milestone as DOGE Continues Surge

Dogecoin is currently priced at about $0.35, down just shy of 10% on the day. Even so, it remains up 11% over the past week, thanks to a spike in the early days of the month that took the original meme coin to a price of almost $0.40.

Galaxy Digital last week said that it expects Dogecoin to hit $1.00 for the first time in 2025, beating its previous all-time high mark of $0.73 from 2021—though Tuesday's price decline takes DOGE even further away from that goal.

Meme coins are famously volatile, and while the established, high-value coins are less likely to plummet to zero with little notice, they still tend to swing harder than major coins like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Bitcoin is down nearly 5% today, for example, but Dogecoin and other meme coins are down twice as much.

Mad Lads Solana NFTs Gain After Parent Firm Backpack Acquires FTX Europe

The starting price of NFTs in the prominent Solana collection Mad Lads jumped 19% earlier Tuesday, with the spike coming following news that parent company Backpack acquired the remains of FTX Europe and the collapsed firm’s MiFID II exchange license.

Mad Lads briefly held a floor price—aka the cheapest asset listing on the marketplace—of almost $18,300 worth of SOL early Tuesday, though the price has fallen to $16,240 as of this writing following a sharp correction across the entire market.

The price increase may come from speculators hoping for benefits tied to Backpack’s acquisition, which will allow the Backpack exchange to offer perpetuals trading to European users after prioritizing the return of funds to FTX Europe users.

While no direct benefits for Mad Lads holders have been announced, project CEO Armani Ferrante shared a timely reminder late last night, only hours before the acquisition announcement.

“Reminder that if you hold a Mad Lad, you automatically get VIP 1 on Backpack Exchange,” he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The reminder came as a response to the company’s teaser about an upcoming season of trading, a period of time in which trading volumes on its existing exchange products may lead to additional benefits. Previous seasons have rewarded users of Backpack’s exchange with access to airdrops, a benefit known well to Mad Lads NFT holders which received airdrops from Wormhole and Dymension among others.

With Mad Lads on Top, Solana Exchange Backpack Sets Its Sights on Coinbase

Mad Lads has garnered more than $1.8 million in secondary trading in the last 24 hours, making it the second-most-traded NFT collection across blockchains according to CryptoSlam—only trailing Ethereum’s Pudgy Penguins

Its price jump extends gains from the last month, in which it has increased in value by nearly 73%, charging back to levels not held since April 2024 according to NFT Price Floor. The collection reached an all-time high of $29,420 just one month prior in March 2024, but as of this writing remains more than 100 SOL off its crypto-denominated high of 192 SOL.

Launched in April 2023, Mad Lads earned acclaim for its clever scheming that resulted in bots spending more than $250,000 on a fake mint, protecting real consumers trying to get the NFTs.

‘Honeypot Bitch’: How Mad Lads Tricked Bots Into Spending $250K on Fake NFTs

Consisting of nearly 10,000 profile picture NFTs, Mad Lads is the second-most-traded Solana NFT collection of all-time according to CryptoSlam

Backpack first announced its intention to roll out a centralized crypto exchange in October 2023. The company also operates a self-custody wallet that supports multiple blockchains, including Solana and Ethereum.

Ripple Taps Chainlink as it Pushes for DeFi Expansion with RLUSD Stablecoin

Ripple's enterprise stablecoin, RLUSD, is getting a boost with Chainlink's battle-tested oracle network as the company aims to bring RLUSD to decentralized finance.

After facilitating over $18 trillion in transaction value across institutional markets, Chainlink's partnership with Ripple would enable decentralized apps to access its price feeds, expanding the use of Ripple's stablecoin for trading, lending, and other financial services.

The move could position RLUSD to compete in the growing institutional DeFi sector, where reliable price feeds and robust infrastructure are essential for large-scale adoption.

"As RLUSD scales across DeFi ecosystems, reliable and transparent pricing is essential to maintaining stability and building trust in its utility within decentralized markets," Jack McDonald, SVP of Stablecoin at Ripple, said in a statement shared with Decrypt.

Donald Trump Backed World Liberty Financial's Big Bet on AAVE, ETH and LINK

The integration addresses a crucial barrier to institutional DeFi adoption—the need for high-quality, tamper-resistant price data.

Chainlink's infrastructure sources pricing information from hundreds of exchanges, weighted by volume and filtered for manipulation attempts.

Stablecoin adoption will continue “to accelerate in the coming years,” Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, said in a statement. “Having access to critical onchain data” would speed up this process, Eid claims

Ripple CTO Warns of 'FOMO' as RLUSD Stablecoin Prepares for Market Debut

Launched amid a surge in XRP prices in December last year, RLUSD operates on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum blockchain, designed to maintain a 1:1 value with the U.S. dollar.

Ripple claims that stablecoin's architecture emphasizes enterprise compliance while enabling composability, which refers to its ability to connect with and build on top of other decentralized apps.

Chainlink's reputation system, meanwhile, provides on-chain monitoring tools that allow users to independently verify the performance of node operators and oracle networks, a key consideration for institutional risk management.

What You Need to Know About Nvidia's AI Announcements at CES 2025

After a record-breaking 2024, Nvidia is kicking off 2025 with a bang, unveiling a slate of products that could solidify its dominance in the fields of AI development and gaming.

CEO Jensen Huang took the stage at CES in Las Vegas to showcase new hardware and software offerings that span everything from personal AI supercomputers to next-generation gaming cards.

Nvidia's biggest announcement: Project DIGITS, a $3,000 personal AI supercomputer that packs a petaflop of computing power into a desktop-sized box.

Built around the new—and up until now, secret—GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, this machine can handle AI models with up to 200 billion parameters while drawing power from a standard outlet.

For heavier workloads, users can link two units to tackle models up to 405 billion parameters.

For context, the largest Llama 3.2 model, the most advanced open-source LLM from Meta, has 405 billion parameters and cannot be run on consumer hardware.

Up until now, it required around 8 Nvidia A100/H100 Superchips, each one costing around $30K, totaling more than $240K just in processing hardware.

Two of Nvidia’s new consumer-grade AI supercomputers would cost $6K and be capable of running the same quantized model.

“AI will be mainstream in every application for every industry. With Project DIGITS, the Grace Blackwell Superchip comes to millions of developers,” Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said in an official blog post. “Placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher, and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.”

For those who love technical details, the GB10 chip represents a significant engineering achievement born from a collaboration with MediaTek.

The system-on-chip combines Nvidia's latest GPU architecture with 20 power-efficient ARM cores connected via NVLink-C2C interconnect.

Each DIGITS unit sports 128GB of unified memory and up to 4TB of NVMe storage. Again, for context, the most powerful GPUs to date pack around 24GB of VRAM (the memory required to run AI models) each, and the H100 Superchip starts at 80GB of VRAM.

Nvidia's plans to dominate AI agents

Companies are rushing to deploy AI agents, and Nvidia knows it, which is probably why it developed Nemotron, a new family of models that comes in three sizes, and announced its expansion today with two new models: Nvidia NIIM for video summarization and understanding and Nvidia Cosmos to give Nemotron vision capabilities—the ability to understand visual instructions.

Until now, the LLMs were only text-based. However, the models excelled at the following instruction: chat, function calls, coding, and math tasks.

They're available through both Hugging Face and Nvidia's website, with enterprise access through the company's AI Enterprise software platform.

Again, for context, In the LLM Arena, Nvidia’s Llama Nemotron 70b ranks higher than the original Llama 405b developed by Meta. It also beats different versions of Claude, Gemini Advanced, Grok-2 mini and GPT-4o.

Nvidia's agent push is now also related to infrastructure. The company announced partnerships with major agentic tech providers like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and CrewAI to build blueprints on Nvidia AI Enterprise.

These ready-to-deploy templates tackle specific tasks that make it easier for developers to build highly specialized agents.

A new PDF-to-podcast blueprint aims to compete with Google's NotebookLM, while another blueprint helps build video search and summary agents. Developers can test these blueprints through the new Nvidia Launchables platform, which enables one-click prototyping and deployment.

Gamers, rejoice! The New GeForce RTX 5000 Cards Are a Performance Beast

Nvidia saved its gaming announcements for last, unveiling the much-expected GeForce RTX 5000 Series. The flagship RTX 5090 houses 92 billion transistors and delivers 3,352 trillion AI operations per second—double the performance of the current RTX 4090. The entire lineup features fifth-generation Tensor Cores and fourth-generation RT Cores.

The new cards introduce DLSS 4, which can boost frame rates up to 8x by using AI to generate multiple frames per render. Blackwell, the engine of AI, has arrived for PC gamers, developers and creatives,” Jensen Huang said, “fusing AI-driven neural rendering and ray tracing, Blackwell is the most significant computer graphics innovation since we introduced programmable shading 25 years ago.”

The new cards also employ transformer models for super-resolution, promising highly realistic graphics and a lot more performance for their price—which is not cheap, btw: $549 for the RTX 5070, with the 5070 Ti at $749, the 5080 at $999, and the 5090 at $1,999.

If you don’t have that kind of money and want to game, don’t worry.

AMD also announced today its Radeon RX 9070 series. The cards are built on the new RDNA 4 architecture using a 4nm manufacturing process and feature dedicated AI accelerators to compete with Nvidia's tensor cores.

While full specifications remain under wraps, AMD's latest Ryzen AI chips already achieve 50 TOPS at peak performance.

Sadly, Nvidia is still the king of AI applications thanks to its CUDA technology, Nvidia’s proprietary AI architecture.

To tackle this, AMD has secured partnerships with HP and Asus for system integration, and over 100 enterprise platform brands will use AMD Pro technology through 2025.

The Radeon cards are expected to hit the market in Q1 2025, giving Nvidia an interesting battle in both gaming and AI acceleration.

What Does OpenAI's Sam Altman Mean When He Says AGI is Achievable?

Sam Altman started 2025 with a bold declaration: OpenAI has figured out how to create artificial general intelligence (AGI), a term commonly understood as the point where AI systems can comprehend, learn, and perform any intellectual task that a human can.

In a reflective blog post published over the weekend, he also said the first wave of AI agents could join the workforce this year, marking what he describes as a pivotal moment in technological history.

Altman painted a picture of OpenAI's journey from a quiet research lab to a company that claims to be on the brink of creating AGI.

The timeline seems ambitious—perhaps too ambitious—while ChatGPT celebrated its second birthday just over a month ago, Altman suggests the next paradigm of AI models capable of complex reasoning is already here.

From there, it’s all about integrating near-human AI into society until AI beats us at everything.

Wen AGI, Wen ASI?

Altman’s elaboration on what AGI implies remained vague, and his timeline predictions raised eyebrows among AI researchers and industry veterans.

“We are now confident we know how to build AGI as we have traditionally understood it," Altman wrote. "We believe that, in 2025, we may see the first AI agents ‘join the workforce’ and materially change the output of companies.”

Altman’s explanation is vague because there is no standardized definition of AGI. The bar has needed to be raised higher each time as AI models become more powerful but not necessarily more capable.

“When considering what Altman said about AGI-level AI agents, it's important to focus on how the definition of AGI has been evolving," Humayun Sheikh, CEO of Fetch.ai and Chairman of the ASI Alliance, told Decrypt.

"While these systems can already pass many of the traditional benchmarks associated with AGI, such as the Turing test, this doesn’t imply that they are sentient," Sheikh said. "AGI has not yet reached a level of true sentience, and I don’t believe it will for quite some time.”

OpenAI's Altman, Ethereum's Buterin Outline Competing Visions for AI's Future

The disconnect between Altman's optimism and expert consensus raises questions about what he means by "AGI." His elaboration on AI agents "joining the workforce" in 2025 sounds more like advanced automation than true artificial general intelligence.

“Superintelligent tools could massively accelerate scientific discovery and innovation well beyond what we are capable of doing on our own, and in turn massively increase abundance and prosperity,” he wrote.

But is Altman correct when he says AGI or agent integration will be a thing in 2025? Not everyone is so sure.

“There are simply too many bugs and inconsistencies with existing AI models that must be ironed out first,” Charles Wayn, co-founder of decentralized super app Galxe told Decrypt. “That said, it’s likely a matter of years rather than decades before we see AGI-level AI agents.”

Some experts suspect Altman’s bold predictions might serve another purpose.

In any case, OpenAI has been burning through cash at an astronomical rate, requiring massive investments to keep its AI development on track.

Promising imminent breakthroughs could help maintain investor interest despite the company's substantial operating costs, according to some.

That's quite an asterisk for someone claiming to be on the verge of one of humanity's most significant technological breakthroughs.

Still, others are backing Altman's claims.

“If Sam Altman is saying that AGI is coming soon, then he probably has some data or business acumen to back up this claim,” Harrison Seletsky, director of business development at digital identity platform SPACE ID told Decrypt.

Seletsky said “broadly intelligent AI agents” may be a year or two away if Altman’s statements are true and tech keeps evolving in the same space.

The Next Generation Will Never Know a World Without AI

The CEO of OpenAI hinted that AGI is not enough for him, and his company is aiming at ASI: a superior state of AI development in which models exceed human capacities at all tasks.

“We are beginning to turn our aim beyond that to superintelligence in the true sense of the word. We love our current products, but we are here for the glorious future. With superintelligence, we can do anything else,” Altman wrote in the blog.

While Altman didn’t elaborate on a timeframe for ASI, some expect that robots can substitute all humans by 2116.

Altman previously said ASI is only a matter of “a few thousand days,” yet experts from the Forecasting Institute give a 50% probability ASI will be achieved in at least 2060.

Knowing how to reach AGI is not the same as being able to reach it.

Yan Lecun, Meta’s chief AI researcher, said humanity is still far from reaching such a milestone due to limitations in the training technique or the hardware required to process such vast amounts of information.

Eliezer Yudkowsky, a pretty influential AI researcher and philosopher, has also argued that this may be a hype move to basically benefit OpenAI in the short term.

Human Workers vs AI Agents

So, agentic behavior is a thing—unlike AGI or ASI—and the quality and versatility of AI Agents are increasing faster than many expect.

Frameworks like Crew AI, Autogen, or LangChain made it possible to create systems of AI Agents with different capabilities, including the ability to work hand in hand with users.

What does it mean for the average Joe, and will this be a danger or a blessing for everyday workers?

Experts aren't too concerned.

“I don't believe we’ll see dramatic organizational changes overnight,” Fetch.ai's Sheikh said. “While there may be some reduction in human capital, particularly for repetitive tasks, these advancements might also address more sophisticated repetitive tasks that current Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems cannot handle.

Seletsky also thinks Agents will most likely conduct repetitive tasks instead of those requiring some level of decision-making.

In other words, humans are safe if they can use their creativity and expertise to their advantage—and assume the consequences of their actions.

“I don’t think decision-making will necessarily be led by AI agents in the near future, because they can reason and analyze, but they don't have that human ingenuity yet,” he told Decrypt..

And there seems to be some degree of consensus, at least in the short term.

“The key distinction lies in the lack of “humanity” in AGI’s approach. It’s an objective, data-driven approach to financial research and investing. This can help rather than hinder financial decisions because it removes some emotional biases that often lead to rash decisions,” Galxe's Wayn said.

OpenAI's o3 Hits Human-Level Scores, But Is It Good Enough to Be AGI?

Experts are already aware of the possible social implications of adopting AI Agents.

Research from the City University of Hong Kong argues that Generative AI and agents in general must collaborate with humans instead of substituting them so society can achieve healthy and continuous growth.

“AI has created both challenges and opportunities in various fields, including technology, business, education, healthcare, as well as arts and humanities,” the research paper reads. “AI-human collaboration is the key to addressing challenges and seizing opportunities created by generative AI.”

Despite this push for human-AI collaboration, companies have started substituting human workers for AI agents with mixed results.

Generally speaking, they always need a human to handle tasks agents cannot do due to hallucinations, training limitations, or simply lack of context understanding.

As of 2024, nearly 25% of CEOs are excited by the idea of having their farm of digitally enslaved agents that do the same work humans do without labor costs involved.

Still, other experts argue that an AI agent can arguably do better for almost 80% of what a CEO does—so nobody is really safe.

The Most Eye-Catching and Absurd AI Products Unveiled at CES 2025 So Far

As CES 2025 unfolds, one thing is clear—artificial intelligence is everywhere.

From TVs to vacuum cleaners, consumer electronics companies are racing to showcase the new AI features, sometimes shoehorned, into their products.

Some of these AI-powered products are impressive, while others stretch the meaning of “artificial intelligence” to its limits.

Here’s a look at some of the most eye-catching and occasionally absurd AI-powered products at CES so far.

The Roborock Saros 270: The robot vacuum claw machine

What it Does:

Developed by Roborock, the Saros 270 is a robot vacuum equipped with a robotic arm that moves small objects out of the way while cleaning. It has a charging station and can lift up to 300 grams, or 0.66 pounds.

Why It’s Absurd:

So, it’s cool, but the Saros 270 is limited by its size, making it useful for only picking up small toys and lightweight shoes and socks.

The claw it uses to pick up objects is only good for small and lightweight objects. Beyond that, what’s the point?

Unless the Saros 270 can carefully deposit those objects in a basket like a carnival claw machine, you’re left with slightly rearranged clutter. Fun? Yes. Practical? That’s debatable.

The SwitchBot K20+ Pro: The Swiss Army Knife of robot vacuums

What it does:

The SwitchBot K20+ Pro is another autonomous household robot. It isn’t just a vacuum—it’s an all-in-one home helper.

This robot can carry a humidifier, maneuver between rooms, and even collect floating pet hair from the air. Need to cool down at night? Attach a fan. Want a drink delivered? Add a shelf and let it roll your snacks around.

Why it Stands Out:

Its versatility is impressive. Unlike standard robot vacuums, the K20+ Pro feels more like a quirky butler on wheels.

It’s playful and genuinely useful—if you’re into the idea of your vacuum multitasking as a drink coaster.

Samsung Vision AI: AI for your TV

What it does:

Samsung’s Vision AI is part of their evolving "SmartThings" ecosystem.

Samsung’s Smart TVs now integrate AI to recognize their surroundings, adjust to user preferences, and offer generative AI features like creating digital art for wallpapers and screen savers and providing real-time subtitle translation during live broadcasts.

Why It’s Absurd:

While the tech sounds fancy, AI-generated wallpapers and live translation feel more like marketing gimmicks than necessities.

Plus, the more connected your TV is to other smart appliances, the bigger the cybersecurity risk. Do we really need another entry point for hackers in our living rooms, this time powered by AI?

Omnia Smart Mirror: Your reflection and health hub

What It Does:

Making the rounds at CES, the Omnia Smart Mirror by Withings is a smart mirror that provides AI-driven insights and tracks health metrics. The Omnia Smart Mirror also acts as a smart scale, heart rate monitor, and AI assistant in one, offering real-time health data directly from your reflection.

Why It Stands Out:

The Omnia Smart Mirror stands out by reimaging the mirror as a health tool. Similar to the Tonal workout station, where personal health metrics are clearly displayed. Adding to the appeal of the Omnia Smart Mirror is the option to track weight, cardio, body composition, and sleep patterns…if it ever launches.

LeafyPod: The Self-Watering Planter that thinks for you

What it Does:

LeafyPod is an AI-powered, self-watering smart planter that makes plant care effortless.

The LeafyPod is equipped with sensors that monitor soil moisture, light, temperature, and humidity, and it automatically adjusts watering schedules to suit your plant's needs.

Why It Stands Out:

By automating plant care, LeafyPod will appeal to those who want green spaces but lack a green thumb. It ensures plants receive optimal care without constant attention.

The LeafyPod’s water reservoir can hold enough water to last up to four weeks, and a mobile app lets users monitor their plants and the surrounding environment.

AFEELA by Sony Honda Mobility: The intelligent EV

What It Does:

A collaboration between Sony and Honda, the Afeela is an electric car that blends advanced AI and sensor technology to elevate the driving experience.

The Afeela comes with 40 sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and ultrasonic units—Afeela offers automated driving assistance and immersive in-car entertainment.

Why It Stands Out:

One of its most unique features is in the cabin, where the driver can control in-car functions using natural voice prompts with the Afeela “Personal Agent” and receive activity suggestions.

Views and maps on the onboard display use Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, which hints at future features that could see the Afeela becoming not only a driving experience but also an entertainment hub.

While this is only a small sample of the innovations being unveiled at CES, it shows the AI arms race is still very much alive and well.

AI Agents Are a Scam: How Tech Bros Derailed Your JARVIS FutureRemember Tony Stark's JARVIS? That seamless, intelligent presence that could do everything from managing his smart home to helping design revolutionary technology? That's what we were promised. That's what artificial intelligence was supposed to deliver. Instead, we got a digital assembly line of fragmented, specialized AI agents that can barely talk to each other. Let me be clear: The current wave of AI agents isn't just a disappointment – it's a deliberate misdirection by Silicon Valley. While tech CEOs and venture capitalists trumpet the rise of "specialized AI agents" as the future of computing, they're selling you a broken dream piece by piece. Here's what they don't want you to know: Building truly capable AI assistants is hard. Really hard. So instead of solving the fundamental challenges of creating a JARVIS-like system, they've repackaged their limitations as a feature. "You don't want one AI assistant," they tell us. "You want twenty specialized ones!" It's like buying a car where you need different robots to operate the steering wheel, the gas pedal, and the radio. Sure, each robot might be "specialized" at its task, but the overall experience is a nightmare. The dirty secret? This fragmentation isn't about serving users better – it's about serving business models. Every specialized agent is another subscription, another platform, another walled garden. While tech bros celebrate their "ecosystem of AI agents," they're really celebrating the splintering of what should have been a unified vision. Consider this: - They told us AI agents would be specialized experts. Reality: They're glorified chatbots with narrow skillsets. - They promised enhanced productivity. Reality: We're spending more time switching between agents than actually getting work done. - They claimed this was the natural evolution of AI. Reality: It's a convenient detour around the hard problems they couldn't solve. The JARVIS dream wasn't just about having a cool AI butler. It was about having a truly intelligent assistant that could understand context, maintain continuity, and seamlessly handle complex tasks across domains. Instead, we're stuck with digital assembly lines that require us to be our own system integrators. But here's the real kicker: This fragmentation isn't just inconvenient – it's actively harmful to the development of truly capable AI assistants. Every dollar invested in building yet another specialized agent is a dollar not spent on solving the fundamental challenges of artificial general intelligence. The tech industry has essentially said, "We couldn't build you a JARVIS, so we're convincing you that you never wanted one in the first place." Don't fall for it. What we need isn't more AI agents. We need a fundamental rethinking of how we approach artificial intelligence. We need to return to the original vision: creating assistants that augment human capabilities across all domains, not fragment them into subscription-sized pieces. The next time a tech CEO tries to sell you on their revolutionary new AI agent that's "specialized" in some narrow task, remember: They're not offering you the future. They're selling you pieces of a broken dream. Your JARVIS future is still possible. But it won't come from those who profit from keeping AI fragmented and limited. It will come from those who dare to tackle the real challenges of creating truly intelligent assistants. The question isn't whether we can build JARVIS. The question is whether Silicon Valley will let us.

Merchant Crypto Payments Spike 8% Following Bitcoin’s $100,000 Milestone: NOWPayments

With Bitcoin surging to a new all-time high over $100,000 in December, non-custodial cryptocurrency payment gateway NOWPayments reported increased adoption as businesses increasingly turn to crypto payment solutions to meet consumer demand.

"During previous Bitcoin price milestones, we observed an 8% increase in overall cryptocurrency payment adoption within just one week," NOWPayments Marketing Manager Alex Yarovinski told Decrypt, noting that this increase was measured by comparing data from the week before and after the U.S. election results.

Yarovinski added that current market conditions are “showing even more promising trends, with growing interest in cryptocurrency payments—albeit at a different pace than previous cycles.”

The growing appetite for crypto payment solutions has highlighted the need for accessible, secure integration tools for businesses, which NOWPayments has been addressing since its formation.

Founded in 2019 by the team behind cryptocurrency exchange service ChangeNOW, NOWPayments is a non-custodial crypto payment gateway, meaning that it doesn't hold or store user funds. The platform currently supports more than 300 cryptocurrencies, providing merchants with a secure way to accept digital asset payments. The company's mission is to provide a crypto payment gateway that is easy to use and embed into existing websites. "We believe everyone should have the chance to accept crypto payments or crypto donations for their e-commerce stores, charities or any type of business," Yarovinski explained.

"The most common concern businesses have about adopting crypto payments is the volatility of cryptocurrencies and its potential impact on revenue," he added, explaining that NOWPayments’ auto-conversion feature enables businesses to instantly convert received crypto into stablecoins or fiat, minimizing exposure to price fluctuations. “This way, businesses can enjoy the benefits of crypto payments—like lower fees, faster transactions, and global reach—without worrying about volatility," Yarovinski said.

Keeping it simple

NOWPayments aims to make accepting crypto payments simple, with a straightforward implementation and competitive pricing that sees transaction fees start at just 0.5%. Merchants can begin accepting crypto payments by simply copying and implementing a chunk of HTML code, and all transactions are securely tied to their NOWPayments account. API keys used for specific purposes also ensure proper tracking and management of incoming payments.

The technical simplicity extends to the platform's integration tools as well. "Businesses often worry about the complexity of integrating crypto payments," Yarovinski said, explaining that the platform addresses this through user-friendly APIs, plugins, and tools offering seamless integrations with platforms including Shopify and WooCommerce.

NOWPayments has also identified several sectors leading current adoption. "We're seeing particularly strong interest from casinos, gambling operations, e-commerce, software-as-a-service providers, and web services sectors," Yarovinski noted. These industries particularly benefit from the borderless nature of cryptocurrency transactions and the reduction in traditional payment processing fees.

Diverse payment solutions

NOWPayments offers specialized tools for different use cases, including widgets for donations and fundraisers, as well as an automatic exchange feature powered by ChangeNOW, that enables merchants to convert incoming payments into their preferred cryptocurrency immediately. This feature has proven particularly valuable for businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions. "Businesses adopting NOWPayments are able to grow faster than their competitors, reinvest funds more efficiently, and expand to international markets seamlessly," Yarovinski said.

Real-world impact and security

NOWPayments has observed “significant benefits” for businesses implementing their solution, he added. “By integrating our crypto payment solution, these companies have reduced their tax costs and sped up transaction times thanks to the inherent efficiency of cryptocurrencies."

Looking toward 2025, NOWPayments emphasized its readiness for continued market growth, Yarovinski said, explaining that, "We're approaching the upcoming bull run with a well-established infrastructure, proven solutions and natural innovations that will allow our clients to feel like they are in a reliable partnership with professionals."

Cigarette Pack-Sized AI Powerhouses and More: NVIDIA's Bold Leap at CES 2025 Speaking at CES on 6 January 2025, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, delivered the keynote address from the digitally recreated NVIDIA headquarters, painting a fascinating picture of how artificial intelligence is making impact across industries and everyday life. One of the most intriguing announcements was NVIDIA's Project DIGITS, a new AI-powered personal supercomputer. Huang was impressed by its compact design, similar to the 'size of a pack of cigarettes', but capable of delivering a petaflop of computing power. This innovation aims to democratize AI supercomputing by making it accessible to small labs, lone professionals, and even home users ( NVIDIA Project Digits ). Consider a scenario where researchers have access to significant computational resources directly from their workstations. This eliminates dependencies on cloud computing or traditional supercomputers, which can be limited by availability and cost. In this setting, a scientist working in a smaller lab could conduct their research with greater autonomy, utilizing a powerful, localized supercomputer. This accessibility to high-performance computing would enable individual scientists and smaller teams within startups to engage in AI research more readily. This shift could lead to increased research and development activities, as barriers to computational resources are reduced. Data analysis and model training could be performed more quickly and iteratively. Consequently, this future could see more individuals and organizations participating in scientific and technological AI advancements. "This is how intelligence is created,” Huang said, introducing the new era of AI development. He explained how AI tokens, the building blocks of intelligent systems, open up endless possibilities. Imagine a future in which AI-assisted drug discovery accelerates the development of life-saving medicines, climate change is mitigated through energy optimization and renewable energy solutions, and personalized education is made available to all as AI tutors adapt to individual learning styles. Moving on to hardware, Huang introduced the RTX 50 series, a new powerful GPU designed to accelerate AI workloads. With 92 billion transistors and offering 4,000 TOPS (terabytes of operations per second) for AI, it is three times more powerful than its predecessor, the Ada generation. Huang emphasized its usefulness in both gaming and professional applications: “This RTX 50 Series, Blackwell architecture... the GPU is just a beast,” he said, highlighting its role in real-time computer graphics and AI processing. Huang made important announcements in the area of automotive AI, highlighting NVIDIA's commitment to the automotive industry. He stated: "The autonomous vehicle revolution has arrived. After so many years, with Waymo's success and Tesla's success, it is very, very clear autonomous vehicles have finally arrived.' He predicted that the autonomous vehicle industry is likely to become the first multi-trillion-dollar industry. Huang presented NVIDIA's approach to automotive AI with a 'three-computer' model required to create autonomous vehicles: A next-generation processor for cars called Thor was announced at CES 2025, which is already in mass production and offers 20 times the processing power of the previous generation Orin. Not only is Thor designed for autonomous vehicles, but it is also a general-purpose robotics computer suitable for a variety of applications, from AMR (autonomous mobile robots) to humanoids. Huang also highlighted the certification of NVIDIA Drive OS to the highest automotive safety standard, ISO 26262 ASIL-D, which is a significant milestone in automotive safety and AI integration, proudly stating: Drive OS is now the first software-defined programmable AI computer that has been certified up to ASIL D, which is the highest standard of functional safety for automobiles. Partnerships with major automakers such as Toyota, Mercedes, BYD and others were highlighted, demonstrating NVIDIA's integral role in the automotive sector. Toyota was highlighted as a new partner in developing next-generation autonomous vehicles. He also introduced NVIDIA Cosmos, a fundamental model designed to understand the physical world. The model, trained on 20 million hours of video of dynamic physical actions, aims to revolutionize robotics and industrial AI by providing a framework for understanding physical dynamics, with applications ranging from robotics to autonomous vehicles ( NVIDIA at CES 2025 ). Huang emphasized the democratization of AI with NVIDIA hardware, making it accessible to gamers, creators, and enterprises. He said: 'GeForce enabled AI to reach the masses, and now AI is coming home to GeForce,' highlighting NVIDIA's role in the spread of AI. The presentation delved into the evolution of AI from perception to generative capabilities, which are now moving towards ' agent AI' and 'physical AI'. Huang discussed the three laws of scaling that guide the development of AI—scaling before learning, after learning, and during testing—and how they help develop AI capabilities. For example, the law of scaling after learning uses techniques such as reinforcement learning and human feedback to improve AI models. In addition, he introduced NVIDIA's Isaac Groot platform for developing general-purpose robot models, highlighting its use for creating digital twins for robots. “The ChatGPT moment for general robotics is just around the corner," Huang predicted, emphasizing the role of modeling and synthetic data in robotics ( NVIDIA Isaac Groot ). In conclusion, NVIDIA’s groundbreaking innovations unveiled at CES 2025 mark a bold step toward an AI-driven future, from cigarette pack-sized supercomputers to the evolution of autonomous vehicles. Powered AI Agent "ai16z" Reaches $1.5B Market CapThe AI-driven ai16z "memefund" recently saw its market cap soar to $1.5 billion before slightly retreating on Sunday. The AI agent project ai16z, unrelated to the similarly named Silicon Valley venture capital fund, surged to a $1.5 billion market cap on Saturday before settling around $1.3 billion later Sunday. Ai16z reached a new milestone of $1 billion. The project positions itself as an AI agent venture fund powered by "memefund" and supported by Daos.fun. The project, which positions itself as an AI agent venture fund powered by the "memefund" launcher Daos.fun, became the first Solana token extension to reach the $1 billion milestone. Solana's token extensions provide new functionality to its token standard, also known as Token 2022. Since (the real) Marc Andreessen's initial vocal support, coupled with growing retail and institutional investor interest in AI agent-related blockchain projects, the project's value has increased more than tenfold over the past two months. Notably, ai16z also hosts the Eliza development framework, which allows developers to launch their own AI agents. Despite internal turbulence and rapidly changing AI narratives causing fund value fluctuations, ai16z ultimately reached a $1.5 billion market cap. The team behind the fund, #Eliza Labs, recently announced a collaboration with Stanford University to study how blockchain-based autonomous AI bots will integrate with the broader digital asset economy.

How Does #ElizaOS Awaken to Become a Real Girl?ElizaOS simulates human thinking ability through its Evaluator, extracting knowledge from vast information to form personal cognition. Memory helps AI Agents transcend Content Limitations through the #Eliza framework. AI can compress and store information from the environment and action results in #Memory during the Provider phase, while using the Evaluator to extract content from human dialogues or key information from any interaction. Initially, Eliza Agent was promoted as having a brain, action capabilities, and information gathering abilities through LLM - seemingly a complete person, but something was still missing. Reflecting on human capabilities reveals that our strongest asset is our thinking ability. This ability constructs personal knowledge bases from past behaviors and information, forming unique individual cognition - the greatest distinction between humans and our competitive advantage. For Agents with only brain, behavior, and gathering abilities, developing thinking capability is crucial. This enables them to continuously synthesize experiences from human dialogues, executed actions, and information gathering processes to form their own cognition. For investment AI Agents, developing unique industry insights is vital for effective investment behavior. How Does ElizaOS Achieve Human-like Thinking? Agent generates response data based on user requests and predetermined settings, potentially including action calls Loads request and response messages into Memory Agent activates thinking ability, extracting various types of knowledge from memory using multiple Evaluators Agent executes corresponding actions based on action names in response messages #Evaluator differs from actions and information gathering in that it activates whenever the Agent is called, like human constant thinking, while actions and information gathering only trigger when specifically called. Why Design EvaluationExamples? Instructions tell LLM which rules to follow during extraction. EvaluationExamples demonstrate how humans extract knowledge following rules in different scenarios, enabling LLM to extract information according to expected standards. LLM-related development relies heavily on writing Prompt Examples. Traditional development would require extensive code to accomplish similar fact extraction, with difficulty covering all scenarios. Comparing Actions and Evaluators: Despite similar definitions, three main differences exist: ActionExamples teach Agents to respond with correct action names; EvaluatorExamples teach knowledge extraction from complex information Actions trigger only upon user request; Evaluators operate constantly Action functions perform specific tasks; Evaluator functions load learned knowledge into databases Summary: ElizaOS constantly activates Evaluators to extract Knowledge, running multiple Evaluators simultaneously to extract different types of knowledge, loading extracted Knowledge into Memory.
